Edinburgh-born businessman Brian Kennedy is planning to step up his interest in purchasing Rangers FC this week according to SunSport.
The Sale Sharks owner has emerged as a major player to take over the Glasgow giants after discussions with legal advisors over the weekend regarding the Ticketus situation went well.
Former Ibrox director Paul Murray and his Blue Knights consortium had enlisted Ticketus as their backers for their bid but Kennedy wanted to establish whether or not the company had any claims to season tickets they purchased when Craig Whyte took over the club last May.
A Court of Session ruling on Friday found that Ticketus have no rights to the seats and the season tickets are now back in the hands of the club, making the competing bids easier to assess.
It is believed that Kennedy will now crank up his bid as Rangers administrators, Duff & Phelps, plan to have a shortlist of two by the end of the week.
