Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has revealed that he decided to take off captain Jose Fonte at half-time of the 2-0 win over Bournemouth as a precaution.

The 31-year-old had picked up a hamstring injury during the first 45 minutes of the contest.

Koeman said: "Jose had some hamstring problems and it was not the moment to take that risk to continue and I hope because we changed in half-time he can be fit for the next weekend."
