Saint Etienne coach Galtier full of praise for Aston Villa: Job came at wrong time

Saint Etienne coach Christophe Galtier admits the Aston Villa job was tempting.

Villa approached Galtier before appointing Remi Garde as new coach.

Of his talks with Villa, Galtier told Telefoot: "This is a great football academy, its design and its history.

"Everything is about timing. It was impossible to leave during the season."

He added: "I wish, of course ... A dream, is the same: to coach in the Premier League. I was the assistant to Alain Perrin at Portsmouth. It's an exciting championship, very well organized, spectacular, not necessarily the best but with derbies and fervor. I need fervor."
