Saido Berahino is grateful for his move to Stoke City.
The former West Brom striker signed for the Potters on Friday.
Berahino said he was the happiest man on the M6 when he was suddenly given the green light by the Baggies to travel north to Stoke.
"The only thing that has kept me going is pretty much my faith. I've had a tough two years, it's been hard for me but everything happens for a reason.
"I'm mentally strong as a person and this experience has shaped me to become a better person. It was all God's plan, now I'm here and can't wait to start."
In an interview with the club after signing, Berahino said: "I'm so overwhelmed and happy and I just can't wait to get started and meet all the lads and get cracking on.
"It's been crazy really - this morning I went to West Brom and did a bit of gym work and then went back home."
