Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha is looking for a fresh start at Everton.
"It was the right time for me and for the club to move on," he told a press conference. "When you get to 30 years old, you have a decision to make. I think it was the best plan.
"Obviously I've been suffering with a lot of setbacks. It was good for me to find the ingredients to get my fitness back.
"Any player needs to be playing. That's what I hope I'm going to get at Everton."
Asked when he expected to be fully fit, he said: "I think it will be three or four weeks, so I try not to make the same mistakes.
"I want to get back - to be fit and to stay fit."
He also stated that he hopes Everton can break into the top four this season for the first time since 2004/05.
"I think Everton are the best to improve and to get to the top four," he added.
