Louis Saha is battling to save his Everton career.
Saha will not be considered for tonight's Carling Cup tie against West Bromwich Albion.
Boss David Moyes has spoken to Saha over the player's outburst on Twitter following his axe.
Coach Steve Round said: "He was asked if he wanted to participate in the reserve game but didn't feel he needed it at that stage.
"The manager is going to keep a close eye on his training and see how he improves over the next week or two.
"I think the manager has quietly spoken to him. We get on with it.
"You'd expect any player not involved to be disappointed.
"The manager doesn't feel he's quite ready to play in the team yet. Simple as that."
