Sagna insists heavy schedule no excuse for Man City

Bacary Sagna insists the Manchester City squad can handle the rigours of the increasing fixture list.

City's stars are already beginning to feel the affects of playing every three or four days having lost three times in their past five outings but the French right-back has no qualms about the state of the players.

Sagna in particular looked sluggish in Saturday's 2-0 loss at Stoke City but has made it clear that he is feeling on top of his game and is looking forward to the busy December schedule.

"I am enjoying playing for the team and try to give my best game by game, and give a big performance," he said ahead of Tuesday night's Champions League clash with Borussia Monchengladbach.

"If I look at my last performance I can't be pleased. I know I have to improve, to step up, and I am ready for that.

"The amount of games is not an excuse, because we have everything around us to make our life easy – we have good facilities and good staff, and as much as we can recover we have to do it.

"I am not scared of playing many games and am ready to give my maximum."
