Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola has revealed that he met with Sir Alex Ferguson when Manchester United were searching for the Scottish great's successor.
Former Barcelona boss Guardiola sat down to a nice dinner with Ferguson last summer to discuss the possibility of him becoming the new Red Devils boss but the Spaniard admits he maybe did not understand the conversation.
Tongue-in-cheek, Guardiola said that Ferguson's English was a bit too quick for his Spanish ears and that he may have missed something during the meeting.
"Sir Alex invited me to a superb restaurant and we had a very good time," Guardiola said ahead of the Champions League quarter-final meeting between the two sides on Tuesday night.
"It was friendly and, like always with me and since I started as a coach, he was so gentle and we spent a very good time together.
"My English is not too good and sometimes he was probably speaking too quickly for me to understand - maybe that's why I didn't understand if I received an offer or not."
