Sir Alex Ferguson receives a 10th honorary degree in recognition of his contribution to sport. The former Manchester United boss was honoured by University of Glasgow during a visit in which he also toured a pioneering cancer research centre and called for further fundraising to tackle the disease.

The 71-year-old was born in the city's Govan area.
