Sacked West Bromwich Albion striker Nicolas Anelka has broken his silence over the quenelle controversy.
Anelka has said that his relationship with comedian Dieudonne M'bala M'bala has improved since he left the club.
Speaking to French newspaper Metro News, Anelka revealed Dieudonne was like a "brother" to him.
When asked what his relationship with Dieudonne, a comedian who claims to be anti-establishment, was like, Anelka said: "Dieudonne was a friend, now he has become a brother!.
"The court (FA disciplinary hearing) asked if he was my friend, I said yes, of course.
"He is a comedian, not a politician. He remains for me the best in France. It was not easy to support someone who was public enemy No 1."
