Sacked Watford boss Marco Silva is being linked with Southampton.

Silva was sacked on Sunday after a run of just one win in 11 league games.

The Sun says the Portuguese is now under consideration at Saints where Mauricio Pellegrino has struggled to make an impact.

Southampton were thought to be one of a number of clubs chasing Silva after the departure of Claude Puel in the summer, alongside the likes of Crystal Palace before Watford claimed the highly regarded manager's signature.

Pellegrino is in the midst of a worse run of games than what saw Silva sacked with only a single win in 15 league games.
