Sacked Southampton boss Nigel Adkins has been encouraged to apply for the Huddersfield Town job.
Adkins is tipped to take over from sacked Simon Grayson.
Current caretaker boss Mark Lillis, who will lead the Terriers for their FA Cup home tie with Leicester today, also played a part in Adkins becoming a manager.
Lillis said: "Huddersfield is a very attractive job.
"We spoke long about Nigel going into management when he was physio at Scunthorpe. I said 'Give it a go.'"
