Zdenek Zeman defended his reign after AS Roma's shock sacking yesterday. Zeman was fired after crisis talks, as last night's 4-2 home defeat to Cagliari proved to be the final straw.

He released a brief statement on his official website this evening.

"I am sorry for the Roma fans, but I tried to give my all. Zdenek Zeman."

This was his second spell with the Giallorossi, as he also sat on the Olimpico bench from 1997 to 1999.
