Arrigo Sacchi admits he urged AC Milan to sign Napoli star Edinson Cavani. Cavani has been a sensation since joining Napoli 18 months ago.

Sacchi revealed: "[Walter] Mazzarri was good to surround himself with capable and reliable people and the fact is that he is complemented by the club getting important players.

"I recommended Cavani to Ancelotti, he and [Marek] Hamsik have extraordinary elements.

"The great performances against Manchester City, Milan and Inter have shown that Napoli is a great team that, although incomplete in some aspects, remains highly competitive.

"The Azzurri need only fear a loss of motivation and physical condition.

"Napoli in the Champions League? It has allowed them to enter the world football stage, not to mention the economic value of the competition. [Aurelio] De Laurentiis has done well to get them to the top."
