Former AC Milan boss Arrigo Sacchi has backed the club's push for LA Galaxy star David Beckham. "I told Galliani to go after Beckham because he can do great things for the team, unlike other players who could be considered a huge risk," Sacchi told Radio Radio TV.

"He is an amazing professional and an exceptional lad. He won't stir up controversy in the squad and, if he's still the player I admired a few years ago, I'm confident he will add that little bit of extra quality to the side.

"In the past players such as Rivaldo and Ronaldo have failed to settle in, but I'm sure it will be entirely different for David - he will thrive at San Siro and Milan will benefit greatly from his services."
