Russian investors in Charlton Athletic talks

Championship outfit Charlton Athletic are in talks with Russian investors.

The Mail on Sunday says a Russian group of investors want to buy Charlton, with co-owners Tony Jimenez and Michael Slater considering selling the Championship club to allow new money to fuel a fresh promotion push.

Jimenez, the club's majority shareholder, is understood to have held talks with the consortium, who have business interests in Cyprus, where Jimenez owns property and a home near Lacarna.

Jimenez and Slater considered a bid from Turkish conglomerate KOC Holdings last year.
