Liverpool legend Ian Rush says they cannot afford to lose Daniel Sturridge next month.
The England international has fallen down the pecking order at Anfield and there have been reports that West Ham are interested in signing him in January.
But Rush told Omnisport: “For me I think it would be wrong if Liverpool got rid of him because for me he's a great finisher.
“Daniel Sturridge is a team player. When you get there it's about taking that chance and I'm sure his chance will come.
“For me he's a major part for Liverpool football club. He's probably the most gifted finisher we have. He's a fantastic player, fantastic finisher and I'm sure when he's fit he'll make himself available."
