The expansion of Liverpool's iconic Anfield stadium has reached a significant milestone, with a 'topping out' ceremony taking place at the venue on Thursday.
The Reds are redeveloping Anfield's main stand to seat more than 8,500 supporters, making it one of Europe's largest all-seater single stands.
Chief executive Ian Ayre and manager Jurgen Klopp were joined by a host of club legends including Kenny Dalglish, Ian Rush, Robbie Fowler, Gary McAllister, Jamie Carragher, John Barnes, Ian Saint John, Phil Neal, Alan Kennedy, Ian Callaghan and Roger Hunt at the event.
The former Reds stars all signed a piece of structural steel that will make up the new stand's roof.
Topping out ceremonies are held when the construction of a new building reaches its maximum height and they are designed to bestow good luck on the new structure.
"We have today reached another important milestone in this fantastic project," Ayre said.
"We are absolutely delighted with the progress and are looking forward to having even more fans supporting the team at Anfield when the Main Stand opens next season."
