Bayern Munich have admitted defeat in their bid to sign Everton fullback Leighton Baines.
Bayern were ready to offer £12million for Everton's left-back, and made an approach before the Christmas holidays.
But the England international insisted he is happy on Merseyside with his home town club, and last night, Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge confirmed that club will now look elsewhere for a defender.
"We cannot force him to join us. He would rather live in Liverpool than Munich, and that's that," Rummenigge said.
