Rudi Garcia knows AS Roma fans are desperate to return to Europe.

Garcia signed a two-year contract and is busy preparing for his debut Serie A season.

He told La Gazzetta dello Sport: "I know the people first of all expect Roma to get back into Europe. That is a fundamental step and we will achieve it. I am certain we'll be back in the cup competitions soon, though I am also coming here to try to win a trophy.

"I know how much the derby means in Rome and that the most important thing for the fans is to beat Lazio. I am fully aware of how much weight those results carry for the Giallorossi supporters. We will not lose.
