Real Salt Lake head coach Jason Kreis believes he has the right man for the job to replace captain Kyle Beckerman.
The RSL midfielder is likely to play regularly for the USA national team this year, with manager Juergen Klinsmann a big fan, leaving Kreis to fill the void whenever there are international fixtures.
Last season, the man who did that was Yordany Alvarez and Kreis is again tipping the Cuban to step into Beckerman's role quite comfortably when required.
"And that's something that we hadn't done, in the prior three years. He was the one guy that I never quite felt like we had - a guy who could step in and do a job, even for one game. It just felt like we would always be different.""It does cause some problems," Kreis told the Salt Lake Tribune. "He's (Beckerman) a leader, he's a central figure on our team. But last year, we feel like we identified the guy who could step up and fill his shoes when he's gone.
