Roy Keane surprised Guardiola left Man City star Aguero on bench

Ex-Manchester United captain Roy Keane has expressed his surprise at Pep Guardiola's decision not to start with star striker Sergio Aguero for the clash against Barcelona.

City suffered a disappointing 4-0 defeat at the hands of Barca at the Nou Camp on Wednesday night and while the Citizens could have no complaints regarding the final result, many were left surprised as to why manager Guardiola started with Aguero on the bench.

ITV pundit Keane has also gone on to echo this sentiment and has hinted that Guardiola would have been better off handing the Argentine international a starting berth on the night.

Keane told ITV: "I suppose so (it was a surprise), your star man and your main goal threat left on the bench.

"I'm sure the manager had his reasons. I don't think Aguero's slow but he probably wanted a bit more pace up front."

Aguero had scored 11 goals in nine matches for City prior to his second-half sub role at the Nou Camp.
