Round of 16 will keep Prem targets Wanyama, Hooper at Celtic - Lennon

Celtic manager Neil Lennon believes qualifying for the knockout stage of the Champions League will prompt the likes of Victor Wanyama and Gary Hooper to remain at the club.

The powerful Kenyan midfielder and prolific English striker have both attracted the attention of Premier League clubs such as Manchester United, Liverpool and Southampton in recent times but Lennon is confident the fact the Glasgow club is in the Round of 16 will see the players ward off any potential suitors.

"Why would they want to leave now when they have got something special to look forward to? Not many clubs can offer that," said Lennon.

"Gary's representatives are coming up over the weekend. We're hoping we can finally get something done on a positive note. Hopefully. There is no guarantee.

"With Victor we will keep plugging away with his representatives as well and see if we can come to a conclusion that pleases everybody."
