Joe Rothwell has been recalled by Manchester United from his loan spell with Barnsley.

The 20-year-old midfielder is back at his parent club after coming down with tonsillitis and will remain away from Oakwell until he has recovered fully.

Rothwell joined the League One club on a six-month spell in July, along with Ben Pearson, and has so far appeared four times in the league and three times in cups competitions.
