Rotherham United have won the race for Newcastle United midfielder Conor Newton.
Newton could have signed for one of the big-names in the Championship before choosing to sign for ambitious Rotherham United - according to his new boss Steve Evans.
Evans told the Evening Chronicle: "Arguably the kid could have gone to a bigger club on paper.
"Whether that's Wolverhampton or Birmingham or Millwall.
"I think Conor was used to playing though from being up at St Mirren.
"And one of the things he was keen to do is play, and with the coaching staff here we want to give him game time, develop him and improve him."
