Rossi: Lazio should have won by more

Lazio coach Delio Rossi was happy with their 2-1 victory over Werder Bremen, but admitted his team should have made it more comfortable on the night.

Tommaso Rocchi struck both of Lazio's goals and Rossi admits they were wasteful upfront: "I was thinking the goalkeeper's yellow jersey was acting as a target, as my players always seemed to hit the ball straight at him! It's a large goal, sometimes they might have managed to get it in there."

He also said: "Our pride helped us to this victory. The lads fought hard and brought out their best in difficult circumstances.

"I am very happy for them, especially some who have not played very much this season, as they really proved themselves."

Mourad Meghni had been criticised for his performances so far this season, but the 'petit Zidane' earned the penalty and provided a glorious assist for Rocchi.

"These are young lads in a difficult club with a demanding city like Rome. We need a little patience and sometimes that is missing, but as you can see with time the quality comes out. Just look at Meghni's pass."

"We cannot make a choice between Serie A and Champions League, as we have precious few options between injuries and bans. Since the start of pre-season training we have been hit by an incredible series of setbacks," added Rossi.
