The Swede had been expected to move on this summer.
But he said: "I think just running away after a year would be stupid. I signed for three years and, like I said when I came here, I intend to stay for three years.
"I know my qualities and I know the English league is different to others. I had to give it a year, and in the last four or five games of last season I thought I did really well and got used to the Premier League."
