Former Barcelona president Sandro Rosell admits they had to sell Yaya Toure to Manchester City to keep the club running.
Rosell was giving testimony over the trial of former president Joan Laporta's management of Barca.
"The club was in technical freefall, because equity were negative," Rosell is quoted by AS as stating.
Asked about the sale of Toure in 2010, Rosell says the club had no choice.
"Everything was done in a day. We urgently needed money."
