Roque Mesa is happy to fight his place at Swansea City.

The midfielder is looking forward to the challenge of earning the confidence of his manager.

"I like difficult challenges and this move definitely is one," he said.

"I am aware that I am not here to be a guaranteed starter but I have to earn my minutes with effort. I am new here and it is clear to me that I need to work harder to convince the coach.

"In Las Palmas I was crucial to the team, here I am the new player and I assume that my role is slightly different. You have to earn the confidence of your team-mates and that is done based on working hard, I want to learn a new type of football."
