Rooney yet to sign new Man Utd deal

Wayne Rooney is yet to sign a new contract with Manchester United, inciting fears that he may leave the club for next to nothing. Rooney's latest sex scandal involving a prostitute has sparked notions that his marriage with wife Coleen could be headed for an end and that he may seek a shift away from the Premier League to escape the heaviest of the expected media scrutiny.

It has come to the fore that the 24-year old striker's future at Old Trafford has not yet been sorted as he is yet to put pen to a contract extension which was expected to tie him up for about five years.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has not emerged with a new offer for Rooney, who has 18 months left on his current deal, and the latest news regarding the player's non-footballing life has thrown his future into disarray according to a source close to the club.

"If Rooney gets to next summer without signing a new deal his transfer value will plummet, United will lose millions and he will be able to join any club he fancies in the world," the source told SunSport.
