Rooney will quit Man Utd if Woodward pushes for pay-cut

Wayne Rooney will not accept a pay-cut at Manchester United. The People says Rooney is ready to sign a new Manchester United contract - but he will not put pen to paper if he is asked to take a pay cut.

With just two years left on his £225,000-a-week agreement, Rooney does not want a repeat of his last contract saga when United allowed his deal to run down to just over a year.

United's new chief executive Ed Woodward who will make the call on offering the England star a new deal.

But talks on a new contract won't get past first base if Rooney is asked to accept a reduction in wages.

The prospect is likely, with the United board moving their players to performance-based contracts.
