Wayne Rooney intends to sign a new deal with Manchester United before the season kicks off.
The Sunday Mirror says Rooney, 24, flew to the Caribbean island of Barbados with wife Coleen and baby son Kai on Thursday after speaking with manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
When he returns to England, he will put the finalise the details of a new £150,000-a-week contract that will make him United's top earner and keep him at Old Trafford for the peak years of his career.
He will not report back for pre-season training until the end of the month.
