Manchester United defender Chris Smalling is confident that Wayne Rooney will carry his national form into Saturday's clash with Liverpool.
Rooney scored goals in England's wins over San Marino and Switzerland in Euro2016 qualifying over the past week to surpass Sir Bobby Charlton's Three Lions record of 49 goals.
The United skipper has failed to open his Premier League account in four matches so far this campaign but teammate Smalling expects him to be 'flying' after becoming England's top goal scorer.
"If you come back off a good performance and breaking a record, it can only be good for motivation and confidence and I think we will see a flying Wayne Rooney come Saturday," Smalling said.
"Scoring in the last two games and his performances have been good - it will only lead to more."
