Steven Gerrard has revealed that Wayne Rooney was adamant he had been fouled when he earned England a penalty against Slovenia on Saturday. The Slovenian players felt the Manchester United striker went down too easily under the challenge of defender Bostjan Cesar.

"Wayne seems to think his shirt was pulled," Gerrard highlighted. "I asked him straight away if here was any contact, and he said he got dragged back.

"I didn't get a good angle of it because I played the pass but Wayne said there was contact."
