Rooney set to pen new long-term Man Utd deal

Wayne Rooney will soon sign a new contract with Manchester United.

The Mirror and the Telegraph are both suggesting that the 28-year old forward will commit to United until the summer of 2019 by signing a deal which will land him around £300,000-a-week - to become the highest-paid British player in history.

It is also being reported that Rooney will be made captain, replacing Nemanja Vidic, and will be consulted on all transfers.

The England international was keen to leave Old Trafford last summer but it appears as though he has had a complete change of heart as he looks to end his career with the Red Devils.
