Rooney scoffs at Man City hype: Pep still hasn't won anything!

Everton striker Wayne Rooney has scoffed at the plaudits raining down on unbeaten Manchester City.

City are yet to win a single piece of silverware under Guardiola and Rooney does not believe they will maintain their current level of performance throughout the campaign.

The former Manchester United captain told talkSPORT: "I'm not sure they are quite there. They would have to keep going and do a lot more. I would go with the United team from 2008.

"There are so many great teams throughout the years in the Premier League. This City team need to win trophies and do it for a longer period to be in that bracket.

"Pep Guardiola deserves so much credit. The way he has got City playing in incredible. But I don't think they can go unbeaten all season.

"There are five or six teams that can all beat each other — and I'm sure in one of those City will get beaten."
