The League Managers Association (LMA) say they would support the introduction of the 'Rooney Rule' if it was backed by football's stakeholders, reports Sky Sports. The Rooney Rule, which is currently used in the NFL in America, ensures coaches from black and ethnic minorities are interviewed for manager's jobs but does not give them an advantage at that stage of getting the position.
Currently just two managers working in the country's top 92 Premier League and Football League clubs are from black and ethnic communities.
LMA Chief Executive Richard Bevan says if football's stakeholders, like the FA and Premier League, supported the introduction of the Rooney Rule, it would get the backing of the LMA.
Bevan says the focus needs to be on increasing the number of managers from black and ethnic minorities who have coaching or management qualifications.
Of the 192 who have the UEFA Pro Licence - the qualification you need to work in the Premier League - just 14 are from such a background.
