Rooney not looking to leave Man Utd

Wayne Rooney has cooled speculation that has him linked with a lucrative switch to Spain's La Liga.

The Manchester United striker has become a target for Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona who will reportedly move for him in the summer but he has played down any rumours of a move away from Old Trafford.

"There's always speculation, and when other big teams are talking about you, it's nice that you're talked about," he told the club's official website.

"But as I've said many times before, I'm a United player and I'm very happy here."

Rooney has been in exceptional form this season, netting on 19 occasions, but it seems very unlikely he will follow the club's latest top goalscorer, Cristiano Ronaldo, in joining a Spanish club.
