David Moyes won't be giving Wayne Rooney any special treatment when he starts work at Manchester United.

The Telegraph says Moyes doesn't officially start work at United until July 1, but he will begin the process of planning for Manchester United's title defence immediately after Everton play Chelsea on Sunday.

Rooney's United career now rests on discussions with Moyes, after Sir Alex Ferguson revealed the forward had handed in a transfer request and did not want to play in his farewell game at Old Trafford because it had been rejected.

The 27 year-old, who watched the 2-1 victory against Swansea from an executive box after being omitted from the matchday squad, was jeered and whistled by some supporters as he collected his Premier League winners' medal following the game.

However, Moyes may wait and see what frame of mind Rooney is in once he has spent time away with England and had a holiday.
