Coleen Rooney, wife of Manchester United and England star Wayne Rooney, has given birth to a boy they have named Kai Wayne, a spokesman for the couple said. Coleen, 23, had her baby at Liverpool Women's Hospital on Monday.
Rooney had earlier missed his team's training session ahead of their Champions League match on Wednesday.
The spokesman added added: "Mother and baby are both absolutely fine. Wayne and Coleen are thrilled with the wonderful addition to their family life."
Following the birth, bookmakers have offered various odds on the couple's child achieving sporting success in future.
Coral are offering odds of 66-1 that Kai Rooney will follow in his father's footsteps and play football for England.
William Hill rate him at 100-1 to play Premiership football, 125-1 to play for Manchester United and 150-1 to gain a full England cap.
