Rooney intends to take scoring form to Old Trafford as Man Utd prepare for Liverpool

England star Wayne Rooney scored a couple of goals during England's recent international matches to become the nation's top goal scorer.

The 29-year-old striker is yet to score a Premier League goal this season and will be eager to open his account in the weekend's showdown against Liverpool, hopefully taking his international scoring form back to his club.

"To achieve what I have, I would be lying if I said it didn't put a spring in my step and make you want to carry on scoring," said Rooney ahead of the showdown at Old Trafford.

"I am very happy and grateful, but I go back to Manchester, get back into training and start focusing on Liverpool. Hopefully getting two goals in the last two games will mean I continue scoring.

"There's no better game to go into than Liverpool at home after losing our last game [at Swansea]. It is a game we have to win and it's something I'm looking forward to."
