Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has handed Sir Alex Ferguson an injury scare.

The Mirror says Rooney will be assessed by United's medical staff on Friday after an injury scare at a mid-season training camp in Qatar.

The striker is only just back from a five-game lay-off with knee trouble and was ­grimacing in pain and holding his left toe and the back of a thigh during a practice session in Doha.
