Wayne Rooney has paid tribute to Manchester United fans for standing by the players this season.
Despite the unfamiliar experience of turning up for a game not confident of United winning, the fans have not turned on the team.
"This hasn't been the best season for us so far but our fans have still been brilliant and stuck by us, so I would like to thank them for that," England star Rooney told Givemesport.com. "It gives the team a massive lift when the fans are behind you and in full voice and I'm sure that will be the case on Sunday (against Liverpool)."
