Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney fears being booed by his own fans this season. The People says the 27-year-old star is said to be upset and disappointed that United chiefs this week missed a golden opportunity to set the record straight after Sir Alex Ferguson's claims last season that he asked for a transfer.
Rooney had hoped United would be clear on the fact he did not hand in a transfer request as he has always insisted.
New chief executive Ed Woodward was missing for David Moyes' first media conference on Friday and the Scot refused to divulge what he knew from Rooney's meeting with Ferguson last season.
The striker now fears a fans' backlash if he decides to stay this coming season.
