Wayne Rooney could be handed the captaincy for Manchester United's clash with Tottenham.
Rooney is vying with Patrice Evra to captain Manchester United against Tottenham at Old Trafford.
Injuries to Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand mean Sir Alex Ferguson will name a new skipper against Harry Redknapp's team.
Evra, set to return after a knee injury, has done the job in the past but Ferguson has hinted that Rooney, who wore the armband when Ferdinand and Vidic went off at West Bromwich, would make a good captain of United.
He said: "He always gives 100per cent and these are wonderful qualities for a captain. He exemplifies the spirit of the whole team."
