Everton ace Wayne Rooney is pleased with the arrival of Sam Allardyce as manager.
David Unsworth was put in temporary charge after Dutchman Ronald Koeman's dismissal in the wake of a 5-2 home drubbing by Arsenal which left the Merseysiders in the relegation zone.
Former Toffees defender Unsworth insisted he wanted the job full-time.
But Roo admits he knew another change was needed after the 5-1 home defeat by Atalanta in the Europa League.
He told talkSPORT: “We conceded three goals in six or seven minutes against Atalanta and then, in the game after, we lost 4-1 to Southampton.
“You couldn't identify that with Everton Football Club. That was when we knew we were in a relegation battle and that a new manager was needed."
