Wayne Rooney is eager to open new contract talks with Manchester United.

The People says if the champions offer him a new deal, with just 20 months left on his £250,000-a-week contract, it is understood Rooney would listen to what they have to say.

Chief executive Ed Woodward said on Saturday that Rooney was "irreplaceable and phenomenal to watch", sparking speculation the club could open talks over a new contract before Christmas.

So far no discussions have taken place over his future, with Rooney and his camp content to let the striker's form do the talking.
