With Sir Alex Ferguson yesterday announcing his decision to retire at the end of the season, David Moyes is expected to be chosen as his successor.

Moyes took Rooney to court in 2008 over claims the player made about his former manager in his autobiography.

Despite a reconciliation between the pair, Moyes might see the attraction in cashing in on Rooney considering Robin van Persie's elevation to the role of United's first-choice striker.
