Rooney determined to remain with Man Utd for next decade

Wayne Rooney has moved to quell ongoing rumours regarding his future at Manchester United.

The England striker has been recently linked with an Old Trafford exit following the arrival of Robin van Persie but he insists that he will still be at the great club well into his 30s.

"Hopefully still here at Man Utd,” he told talkSPORT when asked where he will be in 10 years’ time.

"That's the aim, the plan and what I want to do. As long as this club wants me, I'll be here and trying to be successful."

Regarding his decision to want to leave in 2010, Rooney admits now that it certainly was a mistake and has revealed that he quickly smoothed things over with chief executive David Gill and Sir Alex Ferguson.

"Sometimes as a player you make bad choices and bad decisions, and I think that's what happened," he added.

"Sometimes you see yourself somewhere else and that can play on your mind and make you say or do things you shouldn't have done.

"I realised I had made a mistake. I went back in to see David Gill and the manager. I told them I wanted to stay and be successful in the future."
