Manchester United's Wayne Rooney may get some game time in tomorrow night's Capital One Cup clash with Newcastle United.
The striker has been sidelined with a badly gashed inner thigh he sustained against Fulham in August 25 but may come on at some stage at Old Trafford in the third round of the league cup.
Sir Alex Ferguson suggested in the lead-up to Sunday's Premier League meeting with Liverpool that Rooney could return next week with a substitute appearance amongst an expected very young United line-up a likely scenario.
